Using Articles Correctly: ‘A’, ‘An’, and ‘The‘
Articles are small words that are ued before nouns. There are 3 articles in English: a, an, the. With the help of these articles: a an the worksheet children will be able to choose and use the correct article in sentences based on sound, meaning, and context.
Rules for using the articles:
- Use “a” before words beginning with a consonant sound (b, c, d, f, g etc.). Example: a dog, a table, a box.
- Use “an” before words beginning with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u). Example: an aeroplane, an elephant, an apple.
- Use “the” when you are talking about a specific thing or something already known. Example: the water, the Sun etc
