A verb is a word that tells us something about a person, animal, or thing. Verbs can be of two kinds: Action verbs and Linking verbs. Linking verbs do not show action but help in connecting the subject to more information about it. The most common linking verbs are is, am, are, was, were.
For example: Jack is my friend. They are playing.
Action verbs are the words which show what someone or something does. These are doing words.
For example: The boy sleeps. The girl eats.
