Place value describes how much a digit in a number is worth according to where it is in the number. The place value of a two-digit integer is split into ones and tens.
Ones Place: The quantity of ones is shown by the digit on the right.
Tens Place: The number of tens is shown by the numeral on the left.
For example, in the 45th number: There are five ones since the number five is in the ones place.
There are four tens (or forty) since the number four is in the tens location.

Concept of Tens and Ones
